Sweden was the first country in the world to
(1) legalize so-called gay sex (1944) and, later on,
(2) one of the first countries to legalize gay marriage (1980s).
And then it was the first country in the world to
(3) illegalize paying for sex (1999).
If I am truly honest, I think that all three measures were serious mistakes.
I believe that homosexuality should be tolerated by society and the state, but not approved of by the state, and that paying for sex, when it is an individual choice for both parties, is an activity that the state has absolutely no right to intervene in.
