Sexuality:
A monk since childhood, the Dalai Llama has said that sex offers fleeting satisfaction and leads to trouble later, while chastity offers a better life and "more independence, more freedom".
He has observed that problems arising from conjugal life sometimes even lead to suicide or murder. He has asserted that all religions have the same view about adultery.

[IF THESE ARE THE VIEWS OF THE LLAMA, THEN THESE MUST BE SOME OF THE SILLIEST VIEWS ON THE SUBJECT OF SEX EVER HELD BY A HUMAN BEING....... OR LLAMA].

The Version of a Mere Mortal:
Food:
A human since childhood, Barry has said that food offers fleeting satisfaction and leads to trouble later, while anorexia offers a better life and "more independence, more freedom."
He has observed that problems arising from eating and cookery sometimes even lead to upset stomachs, suicide or murder.
Barry has asserted he thinks that all religions have the same view about eating at restaurants.

Buddhism is in origin perhaps more of a filosofy than a religion.
It is a very good filosofy and a very good religion.
Interestingly, what could be called its parent religion, Hinduism - a very old religion - has a very, very tolerant and positive attitude towards sex.

Discussion Points.
In the above extract what does the Dalai Lama means exactly by "CHASTITY"?
For example - in the case of men - does this include - "knocking one off over a porno mag after Banzai has finished on a Saturday night?"
Re: "Chastity".
In his book "Reason and Emotion", John MacMurray discusses the concept of this term - CHASTITY - meaning APPROPRIATE USAGE of one's sexual nature rather than any kind of suppression of it - which is probably highly impossible!
He was a great filosofer - and a bridge between Existentialism and Analytic filosofy.
